About Emma.

I started life wanting to be and have every job under the sun. Firefighter, Journalist, International Pop Superstar. A combination of introversion and ambition (a classic “Advocate” personality-type) made me very conflicted as to what to do with my life. I decided to study languages at University, as I wanted to travel and be able to speak the local lingo. Whilst young, and in France, I heard someone say “Why bother to learn French, when the French speak English?” I thought that incredibly rude, and chose my two favourite European countries to study at Graduate level; hence I now speak a bit of French and Italian.

I graduated without a clue of what to make of my life. I just knew that I loved giving advice and helping people. I found my way into recruitment. I was promised that I would be speaking to friendly advertising folk, marketing professionals and brilliant creatives, and thus, my love of Agency recruitment was born.

The Why?

I’ve always been a fan of fairness. Fairness, truth, honesty and ethics. They are my core beliefs and I live my life by rules. It’s restrictive, but I find that they feed into my true self. When I first started out in recruitment, GDPR didn’t exist. I was gobsmacked that a recruiter could send a CV to a client without their permission. It didn’t seem truthful, honest or fair to me. On top of that, I didn’t understand the KPIs/targets behind recruitment. Why should I try and sell X into Y when their criteria wasn’t met, but it met OUR business objectives? Not cool. I’ve always stood for ethical recruitment and would never deviate from this path for any monetary advantage. Hence The Right One was born…

More about the Why

They say that a life-altering event can initiate change, and only a few months after losing my best friend, Mai, to a rare type of sarcoma, my mum was diagnosed with Advanced Bladder cancer. Therefore, this business was inspired and set up in honour and dedication to two incredibly strong women.

Mai was the ultimate ‘hype’ woman. She always told me that I should start my own business, and had more belief in me than I did of myself. My mum has undergone numerous invasive surgeries and chemo, and we’ve been in awe of her strength and tenacity through a difficult time.

The hope that through regular donations to Cancer Research, we can help contribute to vital research that can be used in the prevention, diagnosis and cure of this devastating and destructive disease.
